Hurricane Sandy disruption
In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, the US East Coast – and in particular the New York area – has suffered severe disruption to all telecommunications and transport services. Many freight forwarding and logistics businesses are closed for the day or are operating on a very limited basis. In addition, there is extremely restricted access to US Customs and other critical connections.
Some air travel is expected to return to the New York City metro area on Wednesday. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey says John F. Kennedy Airport and Newark Airport in New Jersey will open at 7 am (local time) with limited services. It is unclear how many flights will be permitted and what carriers will have flights operating.
